Life Recovery

The Life Recovery Ministry at Prestonwood Baptist Church helps men, women and students recover from emotional, physical, relational and spiritual wounds through the power of Christ. Through classes, small groups and individual discipleship, the Life Recovery Ministry will help people pursue, overtake, and recover a life of peace and purpose.

PURSUE – In order to recover a life of peace, it is necessary to pursue and identify choices that cause chaos and pain. Addictions, afflictions, strongholds and lies must be brought into the light so they can be seen clearly and dealt with appropriately.

OVERTAKE – Once seen clearly, it is necessary to overtake and remove poor choices and agreements with lies. That is done by filtering each thought through the truth of God’s Word. Discipline, obedience, trust and reliance on the power of the Holy Spirit are the pillars that allow for lies to be removed and truth to be received.

RECOVER – The result of pursuing problems honestly and overtaking them with truth and power is a life of peace as you recover what was lost.

And David inquired of the LORD, “Shall I pursue, will I overtake them?” And the LORD answered, “Pursue: for you will surely overcome and recover all that was taken from you!” —1 Samuel 30:8

GROUPS play a vital role in Life Recovery. In a group, the participants share their experience, strength and hope about a common life event. Connecting with others who have experienced similar life events will help reduce feelings of isolation, fear and hopelessness. In addition, groups help motivate you to walk in freedom and recover life.

HEALING PRAYER provides an opportunity for you to receive prayer for physical, emotional and spiritual healing. At Prestonwood this prayer comes from teams who have been trained to pray over the sick for Christ’s presence and recovery. This is open to people of all ages and all conditions.

FIRST RESPONDERS are people who have recovered from emotional, relational, physical and spiritual wounds through the power of Christ. They are people who have been comforted by God and are now willing to walk alongside others who are actively going through a similar trial or painful circumstance.

CRISIS CARE provides resources that will assist in finding immediate care for life events that require immediate help (such as drug detox and physical abuse).

PERSONAL MINISTRY is a concentrated time of prayer and inner healing designed for those in need of additional spiritual, emotional and physical recovery. To schedule an appointment, e-mail liferecovery@prestonwood.org or call 972-820-5319.

WORKSHOPS allow you to learn new ideas and approaches as you recover the life Christ intended. Training will equip you to apply those new ideas as you bring comfort and healing to others as they recover life. Topics and dates vary throughout the year. To register, contact liferecovery@prestonwood.org.
