After a one-year hiatus to help with the incredible Harvest Crusade at AT&T Stadium in Arlington last spring, men from Prestonwood will gather for their annual conference packed with relevant and challenging teaching and powerful worship, on Feb. 24 and 25.
Tony Lewandowski couldn’t be happier.
There’s nothing quite like packing a few thousand men into the Worship Center where they can forget everyday concerns, focus on God and His Word and be a part of something much bigger than themselves, Tony said.
“For me, number one is the worship, having men gather in a large group and being, I won’t say unafraid, but unashamed in how they worship in front of other men,” he said. “This may sound weird, but it’s OK to put your hands in the air, it’s OK to have tears running down your cheeks in worship.
“For men, it’s the pride thing,” said Tony, director of the Lost & Found Bible Fellowship. “So I try to help a lot of guys who are too prideful to be open about their faith.”
This year’s conference, which runs Friday from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon, is themed FORWARD.
“The whole idea is as men, we’re advancing the kingdom, moving forward in our walk, moving forward in our marriages and our families,” Teaching Pastor Jarrett Stephens. “We won’t be apathetic.”
And the crowd is likely to come from well outside of the walls of Prestonwood, he said.
“We expect 2,500 to 3,000 men, and they’ll come from all over Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana,” Jarrett said.
The speaking lineup includes David Jeremiah, senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, California; and James Robison, founder and president of LIFE Outreach International. Both are long-time friends of Prestonwood Pastor Jack Graham and exceptional communicators of God’s Word.
They join Bryan Carter, senior pastor of Concord Church in Dallas; the Benham Brothers, twins, former professional baseball players, authors and real estate entrepreneurs; Caleb Kaltenbach—“a great young communicator” Jarrett said—a pastor, writer and the son of gay parents; and U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert, who represents parts of East Texas in Congress.
Michael Neale and the men’s worship team will lead worship, along with special guest Anthony Evans, a recording artist and worship leader from Dallas.
Minister of Men & Evangelism David Shivers said he sees a growing excitement about the conference among the men of the church, especially after a year off.
“They definitely missed it last year, and they’re looking forward to the teaching, the worship,” David said. “I think it’s hard sometimes for men to slow down and worship. They’re thinking about their wives, their kids … you can be thinking of 15 or 20 other things sometimes. But your sole responsibility on this weekend is to open yourself to Jesus.
“As it says in Isaiah 6:9, ‘And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?”’ Then I said, ‘Here I am! Send me.’ And He said, ‘Go.’
“That’s what our men are saying: ‘Here I am, Lord. Send me. I’m your man.’”
That attitude begins with Pastor Jack Graham, David said.
“Pastor has his hand all over this thing, the leadership of men,” he said. “His dedication to Friday Morning Men’s Bible Study and the men who come out at 6:30 a.m. is incredible.
“He knows the church will only get as far as our men take it.”
